I am currently building a cello modeled after an instrument by Giuseppe Guarneri filius Andrea, commissioned by a fine player from Germany.
On a slightly different note, I have become a participant in the blogosphere! You can find my reviews of instument-related items under "Luthier Blog" at simplyviolin.com.
Preparations for my trip to the Maker's Workshop in Oberlin this June are under way: I am studying fotos and measurements of the "Betts" Stradivari violin, on which I will model the instrument I am planning to make there. Right now, I am very much at the "template" stage, trying to decide what, if anything, I will adjust in the outline, ff-holes, and scroll drawings I have. Looking over my inventory of wood to find something appropriate is almost as much fun as shoe shopping!
