I can see it's not going to be an easy week for violin making: the weather has warmed considerably over the last couple of days, and even though I allowed myself the luxury of a walk, I still had to fight the repeated urge to run outside without having to wear a scarf, a hat, and gloves; to feel actual warmth from the sun; to listen to the birds find something to sing about.
I did manage to make the blocks, and glue them to the mould; to thickness the ribs, and to join the two halves of the top. This last part took far longer than anticipated. Having helped a number of students with their centre joints, I felt joining was rather old hat for a dab hand like myself. Today's piece of spruce was unexpectedly squirrely, though, and I found myself getting quite impatient with it. Hopefully, when it's all flattened out it won't shame me or my abilities too much.
