This is why I haven't spent as much time in my workshop recently -- instead, I have been in my music room giving myself callouses.
I realized I had got a little obsessive about my intonation when I developed a migraine from staring at my tuner. The tuner (a free download on my phone) is impressive for about three seconds -- it has three displays all moving and twitching in different directions, and in colour. I play a note, and the bar on top jitters up and down, displaying the frequencies and overtones, while the bar in the middle sways from side to side of en ever-elusive white center; the bar on the bottom pulses gently in increasing or decreasing intensity of colour. All that dancing, pulsing, blinking in one small space, it's definitely too much information.
I've felt a lot happier and calmer since I switched to a tuner with a flat grey LCD display. It has one red, one green light showing the general direction of things. I'm considering taping them over.
