Emails have been flying back and forth between Minneapolis, Atlanta and Port-of-Spain about LSF's planned trip there. "Tell us what you need", I write, and Caitlyn sends a list: "Two violins, a viola, bass bows, cases, some rosins ..." "Can do!" I reply, and set to work.
For years, I have collected lumps of rosin of all shapes and sizes out of cases-to-be-discarded. Now I set up my little varnish cooker on the front porch, prepare a tray of empty votive candle tins, and start the melt-down, profoundly grateful that this winter is mild enough to spend time out there.

This is what they mean by indoor/outdoor living, right? Since it is warm ... ish ... for Minnesota, it doesn't take the rosins long to dissolve, and blend. The proportions work out beautifully.
Now all I have to do is figure out how to get them out of the moulds. Next time, I'll try silicone mini muffin tins, maybe.
